The International Association for the History of Religions Membership
    March 2, 2017
The Society of Biblical Literature has been invited by the (IAHR) to join its ranks as an Affiliate member. IAHR Affiliates are "international associations for the study of particular areas within the academic study of religions.” Tim Jensen (Honorarprofessor Leibniz Universität Hannover, Associate Professor of the Study of Religions at the University of Southern Denmark, and President of the IAHR), said of the SBL, “The IAHR extends this invitation because SBL is the largest international association of religion scholars with expertise in critical textual analysis. SBL brings a unique scholarly skill set to IAHR.” John F. Kutsko (Executive Director of SBL) likewise expressed that “SBL’s intellectual contribution to the humanistic study of religion through its close reading of religious texts in their many contexts, past and present, creates opportunities for international and interdisciplinary collaboration. We imagine many ways to engage with the international scholarly community of the IAHR.”
